Genuine Biotech and Fosun Pharma Donated Nearly 300,000 Bottles of Azvudine Tablets to China's Rural Areas

Statistically, as of Feb. 28, 2023, Genuine Biotech, together with Shanghai Fosun Pharmaceutical (Group) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Fosun Pharma"), has donated nearly 300,000 bottles of Azvudine Tablets to China's rural areas through the Shanghai Fosun Foundation (hereinafter referred to as "Fosun Foundation"), covering 250 cities and counties in Anhui, Yunnan, Guizhou, Henan, Gansu, Xinjiang, Tibet, Heilongjiang, Guangdong provinces, and Shanghai, with the coverage beyond expectation.

As China has officially begun to manage COVID-19 with measures designed to combat Class B infectious diseases in Jan. 2023, multiple hospitals across China have released diagnosis and treatment guidelines for COVID-19, emphasizing the principle of "early detection, early intervention, and early treatment" of COVID-19 infections and the importance of the 72-hour optimum treatment period. Accelerating the appropriate use of antiviral drugs in the treatment of COVID-19 patients has become a key initiative to effectively safeguard the health of all people, especially the elderly with underlying diseases.

On Jan. 9, Genuine Biotech and Fosun Pharma jointly announced the donation of 100 million yuan worth of COVID-19 treatment Azvudine Tablets through the Fosun Foundation to China's rural areas in 180 counties in the central and western regions to help the rural areas smoothly through the pandemic. Within 48 hours after the announcement, the first batch of 6,000 bottles of Azvudine Tablets was shipped to 10 county- and village-level clinics in Yunnan, Guizhou, Jiangxi, and Anhui provinces against all odds. On Jan. 16, the second batch of Azvudine Tablets arrived at 24 county- and village-level clinics in Sichuan, Chongqing, Gansu, Hainan, Jiangxi, etc.

After the Spring Festival holiday, the steep rise in COVID-19 infections appeared to be leveling off across the country. However, the high-risk special populations in welfare institutions and nursing homes were still challenged by insufficient drug supply and a lack of medical facilities. Genuine Biotech and Fosun Pharma made timely adjustments and set their sights on nursing homes and welfare institutions in urban areas and the local communities at the grassroots level: On Feb. 8, Azvudine Tablets were delivered to 27 nursing homes in Yudu County, Ganzhou City; on Feb. 27, the drugs were sent to Shijiazhuang Nursing Home in Hebei Province; on Mar. 3, the drugs were shipped to 23 nursing homes in Fujian Province... Genuine Biotech and Fosun Pharma jointly built a solid defense line for people's health by catering to the needs for drugs at primary-level elderly care institutions with concrete actions amid the pandemic.
